Sigurdardottir, Johanna. "Give Women a Chance, and They Will Change the World" The New York Times 16 Sept. 18 https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/16/opinion/politics/johanna-sigurdardottir-give-women-a-chance.html
This article is written by a former Prime Minister of Iceland. In this article, she talks about how in her experience she has found that women are more likely to better political change. She feels that women were specifically better at " ensuring fairness in society"(Sigurdardottir). However, she doesn't demand total female control, but instead equal representation in all countries. By bringing women it allows for a greater diversity of thought and ideas, which can only benefit policy making and discussion. She found that women were more sympathetic to lower income individuals and would more likely fight for the structure to help those groups more. Moving forward more women should be encouraged to go to politics and by giving more power to women, issues like pay inequality will be solved.
This article relates to the idea of women in development and how it can affect a country. In this article, it discussed how this change has helped the country for the better. This will then encourage more focus on putting women in positions of power. This allows for women to contribute to development as well. This also will create a better social structure of equality in the country. By doing this it allows for the development to be more equal to the benefit of all citizens.
