Kazakhstan hero stabbed to death News Journal 8
Article on Kazakstan
Mather, Victor. "Denis Ten, Olympic Skating Medalist, Stabbed to Death in Kazakhstan" The New York Times 19 July. 18, https://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/19/sports/denis-ten-olympic-skater.html
In this article, it talks about the murder to the Olympic Skater Denis Ten during a robbery. Both a bronze and silver medalist, Ten was stabbed during a brawl when he came across two men stealing mirrors from his car. His wounds proved to be fatal as he was confirmed to be dead after being rushed to the hospital. Apart of the Korean minority in Kazakstan, he will always be as a true champion and trailblazer.
This article is relevant to the topic of Kazakstan because the death of skater Denis Ten shook the country. An Olympic hero, the tragedy exposed a major problem in the country and brought awareness to the amount of crime in the country. This was also one of the few articles found that was even somewhat focused on Kazakstan. However, I would expect that after the Poland conference Kazakhstan may have more involvement in the news. This is because of how their country is planning to make big progress in terms of being more environmentally friendly.
